Meritorious Sportspersons to Get 5 Percent Quota in Delhi Government Jobs

The Delhi Government has decided to reserve 5 percent for meritorious sportspersons of the total vacancies available in all departments and autonomous bodies. As per the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s tweet, the Delhi Cabinet approved a proposal of the Department of Education and Sports to recruit sportspersons in the state government.

According to the statement from the AAP Government, out of the five percent reserved vacancies for meritorious sportspersons, at least three percent of the posts in Group C may be reserved for sportspersons who have won a medal or participated in specified international sporting events. For two percent posts, Group A and Group B ex-cadre posts in the Government of Delhi will be earmarked for the appointment of sportspersons who have won a medal in specified international sporting events.

According to the Delhi Government, the step has been taken to encourage and support city-based sports people.

CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Good news for sportspersons of Delhi. Cabinet approves jobs in Delhi govt for those sportspersons who excel in their sports. Rules to be notified within one month.”

The cabinet had also increased the cash incentive for sportspersons from the national capital for their achievements in the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games including para games in August 2018.
