Indian Forest Service (IFS) is one of the All India Services. Officers are selected through UPSC IFS Exam and then trained for about 2 years by the Central Government at Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy.

UPSC conducts Indian Forest Service Exam (IFS) Exam for admission to the Indian Forest Service. The recruitment is conducted through two stages – Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination and IFS (Main Examination). Candidates applying for IFS Exam are required to qualify for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination for going to the stage of the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination. There is a reservation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWBD candidates.

Scheme of Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Examination will consist of 2 papers of objective type questions and carry a maximum of 400 marks. The duration of 2 hours will be given to each paper – Paper I and Paper II for answering the questions. Candidates qualified in this exam will be shortlisted for Main Exam.
Scheme of Main Examination
The Main Examination will consist of Written Examination and Interview. The written exam will consist of 6 papers of conventional essay type – Paper I, II, III, IV, V, and VI. Paper I and Paper II will be of General English and General Knowledge respectively of 300 marks each. Paper III to Paper VI will be of any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects. Each subject will have two papers and each paper will be of 200 marks.
Scheme of Personality Test
Candidates qualified in the Written Part of the Main Exam will be called for an interview with the objective to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for the service. The interview will carry 300 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks). Marks thus obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination (written part as well as interview) would determine their final ranking
UPSC IFS Exam Eligibility
UPSC Indian Forest Service Exam Eligibility Criteria depend upon the age group, nationality, educational qualification of the students, which is set by the Union Public Service Commission. Eligibility criteria vary as per the post for Indian Forest Service Exam 2022. A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering. Also, the minimum and maximum age to apply varies between 21 – 32 years. The willing candidates must check the detailed eligibility criteria and start preparing for the exam.

UPSC IFS 2022 Admit Card
Candidates can download the UPSC Indian Forest Services Exam Hall Ticket from our Admit Cards page.
