Indian Air Force conducts Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) twice a year for the courses for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission (PC) and SSC in Ground Duty (Technical) Branch and Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch. The test is also conducted for grant of PC/SSC for NCC Special Entry Scheme for Flying Branch.

Eligibility Criteria for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT)
Flying Branch:- Candidates can apply for Flying Branch through NCC Special Entry Scheme for PC/SSC or through AFCAT for SSC. If you are applying through NCC Special Entry, then you should have Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ Certificate of NCC. PC is offered for Men and SSC is for both men and women. The tenure of SSC Officers is 14 years with no further extension.
Eligibility Criteria:- The educational qualification required for Flying Branch is 12th with Maths and Physics + Graduate in any discipline OR B.E/ B.Tech OR Cleared Section A & B Exam of AMIE or AeSI. The marital status of the candidates should be single. Candidates having age between 20 to 24 years can apply for this test. Age relaxation will be given to the candidates as per the rules.
Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch:- Candidates can join as an officer in any of Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches namely Administration Branch, Accounts Branch, Logistics Branch, Education Branch, and Meteorology Branch.
Eligibility Criteria:- The educational qualification required for Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch is a Graduate Degree in any discipline OR Cleared Section A & B Exam of AMIE or AeSI OR MCA/ MBA OR Post Graduation Degree in Agricultural Meteorology/ Ecology & Environment/ Geo-physics/ Environmental Biology/ English/ Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Statistics/ International Relations/ International Studies/ Defence Studies/ Psychology/ Computer Science/ IT/ Management/ Mass Communication/ Journalism/ Public Relations/ Science/ Geography/ Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography. The marital status of the candidates below the age of 25 years should be single. Candidates having age between 20 to 26 years can apply for this test.
Ground Duty (Technical) Branch:- Candidates can join as an Officer in Ground Duty (Technical) Branch.
Eligibility Criteria:- The educational qualification required for Ground Duty (Technical) Branch is an Engineering Degree. The marital status of the candidates below the age of 25 years should be single. Candidates having age between 20 to 26 years can apply for this test.
Application Process for AFCAT – Apply Online
Candidates can register for the AFCAT through online mode only. There will be separate tabs available for online registration for AFCAT Entry/ NCC Special Entry. If you are registering for AFCAT Entry then you will have to pay the examination fee. But the candidates registering for NCC Special Entry are not required to pay a fee. AFCAT Pattern – Selection Procedure – Latest Updates
The AFCAT consists of two stages namely Stage I Testing and Stage II Testing. Stage I is a screening test that consists of the Officer Intelligence Rating Test and Picture Perception and Discussion Test. Candidates qualified in Stage I will undergo Stage II Testing. The Second Stage will consist of Psychological Test, Group Test, Interview and Computer Pilot Selection System (CPSS) Test.
