South Western Railway conducts General Departmental Competitive Exam (GDCE) every year to recruit serving Railway employees of South Western Railway and Rail Wheel Factory/ Yelahanka (RWF/YNK) on the posts of Commercial cum Ticket Clerk and Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk in Commercial Department. All serving regular employees of divisions, units, workshops or headquarters of SWR and RWF/YNK, of any cadre or department, can apply for these posts.

SWR GDC Exam – Eligibility Criteria
The educational qualification required for various posts under the GDCE Scheme differs. Let’s have a look at brief eligibility criteria for General Departmental Competitive Exam.
Commercial cum Ticket Clerk:- Candidates must have 12th Pass certificate or it’s equivalent with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. In the case of SC/ ST/ PWD/ Ex-Servicemen and candidates who possess qualifications higher than 12th, 50% marks are not to be insisted upon.
Sr. Commercial cum Ticket Clerk:- Candidates must have a Degree from a recognized university or its equivalent.
The age limit for both the posts is 18 to 42 years. Age relaxation will be given to the candidates as per the rules.
Application Process for GDCE – Apply Online
Candidates can apply for the General Departmental Competitive Exam through online mode only. Filling Employee No. is mandatory in the online application form. Candidates can apply for more than one post. They must indicate their preferences of posts in the online application form. A colored photograph needs to be uploaded by the candidates as per the specified format. During the online application submission, a Registration Number will be issued. SWR GDC Exam Pattern – Selection Procedure – Latest Updates
The recruitment process will consist of a Computer-Based Test/ Written Exam, Document Verification and Medical Exam. CBT/ Written Exam will have Objective Type Questions. There will be negative marking. 1/3 of the marks allotted to the question shall be deducted for each wrong answer. At the time of document verification, the candidates will have to produce original certificates. Candidates can check their results at the Sarkari Results page as soon as they are released.
