Special Class Railway Apprentices examination is a national level recruitment exam conducted under the supreme authorisation of the Union Public Service Commission. Special Class Railway Apprentice shortly known as SCRA is a program by which candidates are trained & are selected for appointments as Special Class Apprentices in Mechanical Engineering Department within the Indian Railways. Candidates selected through UPSC SCRA exam are commissioned as Class I officers in the Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineering after the completion of a four years long apprenticeship.
UPSC conducts the examination in two stages i.e. written test and personality test. The written test carries 600 marks while the interview/personality test carries 200 marks. It is vital for Sarkari Naukri seekers to clear both the rounds.
Age:- The candidate must be an Indian citizen. The candidate should be in between the age of 17 to 21 years. Age relaxation will be given as per the government rules & regulations.
Educational Qualification:- Candidates seeking UPSC Jobs should be 12th Pass or equivalent from a Government of India recognized board or university with first or second division. The candidate must have studied Mathematics as a (compulsory subject) and either one of Physics or Chemistry subject or both. Candidates should have completed the Graduation with Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry should be studied as one of their main subjects in the examination.
SCRA Application :- The online registration process will be done from the official website of UPSC i.e. upsconline.nic.in. The registration will be done in two phases, after completion of one phase only, candidates will be eligible to enter into the second phase of the registration. All the candidates excluding SC/ST/Female/PH are required to pay the application fee through Debit/ Credit Cards/Internet Banking in any of the branches of State Bank of India and its associated banks.
SCRA Admit Cards:- Candidates will be able to download their admit cards from the official web portal of UPSC http://www.upsc.gov.in. The admit cards will contain information of test venue, date and time along with the candidate’s name and roll number. All candidates must carry their admit cards to their respective centres to appear for the exam.
Selection Process:- The selection process of candidates for this Railway Recruitment will be based on the three modes of examination which includes Written exam, personality test or interview and document verification respectively.
SCRA Examination Pattern:- The UPSC SCRA Exam shall be in objective mode containing multiple choice type questions. Major sections are General Ability, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics respectively. The Examination will be conducted in two parts:-
Part I:- The written test will consist of three papers of multiple type questions covering various topics (Negative Marking is Applicable) given below:-
Paper 1:- General Ability Test (English, GK, Psychological Test) – 200 Marks
Paper 2:- Physical Science (Physics & Chemistry) – 200 Marks
Paper 3:- Mathematics – 200 Marks
Part II:- This part covers a personality test of 200 marks. However, this part will be conducted only for those candidates, who have qualified their written examination.

One of the important tips to crack SCRA exam is to make sure that you have the best study materials that cover the entire portion of the exam.
