SBI Probationary Officer Exam Eligibility, Exam Pattern and Syllabus

After knowing the exam date you all might be thinking about the eligibility criteria for this exam. You might be wondering what would be the age limit for appearing in this paper? What is the required qualification? Aspiring candidates who are going to apply for SBI Probationary Officer Examination 2021 (Preliminary Examination and Main Examination) can check the detailed eligibility criteria here.

Nationality/ Citizenship: A candidate must be unmarried and must either be
(i) a Citizen of India or
(ii) a subject of Bhutan or
(iii) a subject of Nepal or
(iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

SBI PO 2021 Exam Pattern

Before starting preparation for the exam, you must understand and familiarize yourself with the latest SBI Probationary Officer (Preliminary and Main) Exam pattern and syllabus.

Preliminary Examination:- This Examination consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted Online. The Test would be of 1 Hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows:

Main Examination:-
Category wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Exam. The Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Tests for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online.
(i) Objective Test:- The objective test of 3 hours duration consists of 4 Sections for a total of 200 marks. The objective test will have separate timing for every section.

(ii) Descriptive Test:- The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with two questions or 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay).

Group Exercise and Interview:- Category wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the Main Examination. Candidates numbering up to 3 times (approx.) of the category wise vacancies will be shortlisted for the Group Exercise & Interview.

Final Selection:- The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. The marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in Phase-III for preparing the final merit list. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for preparing the final merit list for selection.

The three major sections that a candidate needs to prepare are Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language. The sections have a wide range of topics on which questions are based. Although, the Preliminary and Main examinations are both conducted on the same pattern and syllabus. The difficulty level of the exam would be higher for the Main examination. SBI Probationary Officer Admit Card

 It is important to note that the bank will not be sent admit cards by post. Registered candidates will be required to download SBI PO Admit Card 2021 from the official website of the State Bank of India. Soon the Preliminary Exam Will be Conducted in the Month of December 2021. The admit card for SBI PO Exam 2021 will be released in two stages – admit card for the preliminary exam, the admit card for the mains exam. The candidate must log in to his/her account created while filling in the online application form and download the admit card. To log in on the official website of SBI, a candidate is supposed to have a registration number/ roll number, date of birth/ password. SBI Probationary Officer Result

The SBI PO Result will be declared separately for Prelims, Mains. The result will be declared after every stage of the examination has been conducted under SBI Recruitment Process 2021. Candidates can check the Latest SBI Result Updates by clicking on the result page.

Selection Procedure

Candidates have to go through two stages of examination to finally select as PO in the bank- Preliminary Examination and Main Examination. The selected candidates will be on probation for a minimum period of 2 years. Before the probation period comes to an end, the performance of the newly recruited employees will be evaluated. There is a reservation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD and Ex-Servicemen candidates. Pre-Examination Training is also provided to SC/ ST/ Ex-Servicemen/ Religious Minority Community candidates.
