The National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently replaced the CBSE and other exam conducting authorities this year. NTA is an autonomous and self-sustained premier testing agency to conduct recruitment exams like UGC-NET and entrance examinations for higher educational institutions. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) announced that CBSE NET Exam would be conducted by newly formed agency NTA and would be held online from December 2018. National Eligibility Test is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for Assistant Professorship or Junior Research Fellowship in Indian Universities & Colleges.

NTA UGC-National Eligibility Test Pattern and Syllabus

National Eligibility Test is conducted twice a year for the cut-off selection of suitable candidates holding requisite conditions for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship. Those who clear the exam receiving aggregate marks can apply in government universities and institutions for Assistant Professorship and JRF for higher education like Ph.D. Every year number of students appeared in this exam and only a few eligible clear the test with cut-off marks. There is reservation for the SC/ST/PWD and Transgender candidates.

NTA UGC NET Exam Pattern

The UGC NET Exam December 2018, which will be conducted now by NTA, will consist of two papers –

  • Paper I
  • Paper II

Paper I shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions each carrying two marks. The questions will be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate.

Paper II shall consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate.

NTA NET December 2018 Exam Schedule

The detailed exam schedule of NET December 2018 Exam is given below:

  • Online Application Form Submission – 1st September 2018
  • Last Date for Applying Online – 30th September 2018
  • Dates of Examination – 18th December to 22nd December 2018
  • Admit Card Release Date – 19th November 2018
  • Declaration of Result – 10th January 2019

According to the statement of MHRD, NTA will establish a network of test practice centers for students of rural areas to familiarize the aspirants with the new online examination mode and provide an equal opportunity to everyone to practice before the exam.
